Call summaries vs. call transcripts in Nimbata
Explaining the difference between call summaries and call transcripts
When you enable call transcriptions in Nimbata, you gain two ways to review what was said during a call - call transcripts and call summaries. Each serves a different purpose and provides different levels of detail. TL;DR:
- Call transcripts are the full text of the conversation, written word-for-word
- Call summaries are shorter overviews derived from the transcript
- Both help you understand calls without listening to the full audio recording
Below is what each one is and how they differ.
1. Call transcripts
A call transcript is the full written version of the conversation between the caller and your team. Nimbata uses transcription technology to convert the spoken words into text that you can read in the app. Transcripts let you:
- See every word spoken during the call
- Search or scan for specific text or keywords
- Understand context without replaying the audio
Use call transcripts when you need:
- Access to the full conversation text
- To perform a deep review or audits
- To find mentions of specific words and/or phrases
You can access call transcripts from the Activity > Calls list and opening the call details.
2. Call summaries
A call summary is a brief overview of the call based on the full transcript. In Nimbata, summaries are automatically generated from the transcript and designed to highlight the key points of the conversation. Summaries help you:
- Quickly understand the main topic or outcome of a call
- Save time when reviewing large volumes of calls
- Get context without reading the entire transcript
Use call summaries when you need:
- Key points of a call only
- To gain access to quick insights about what was said
- An overview of the language used
You can access call summaries from the Activity > Calls list and opening the call details.
Use transcripts when you need exact wording or want to analyze nuances. Use summaries when you just want to understand what happened without all the details.
Transcriptions and summaries are available only after you enable the call transcriptions feature. To activate it, visit the following guide: https://help.nimbata.com/en/article/transcribe-calls-how-to-activate-ai-call-transcriptions-and-summaries-bmjguu/
They are not retroactive; they apply only to calls after the feature is active.
